Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the United States. She is an actress as well as a singer and dancer. As a young actress, she appeared in Broadway performances, she starred her role in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The actress was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for playing Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director has spent most of her career working with well-known directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford will be next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is in the production of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust starring Sarah Paulson. It's also available on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the production. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key actors into the very first impeachment proceeding in America in over a century. She was in two seasons of the popular CBS comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actor Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are just a few of her Broadway performances. Born and raised in Denver Ashford currently splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
